DISSECTION

Dissection is placed into isolated segments, it creates a disruption of any sense of wholeness. The use of glass reinforces both fragility and transparency, the body is constantly seen, examined, and broken apart. Glass carries connotations of fragility along with exposure, meant to be looked through and revealed. In this work, transparency becomes almost a form of violence. The body is not simply seen but scrutinized and segmented, made to dissect to the gaze of spectators. Each fracture line acts as a boundary, the divided body parts that are meant to examine and to reinforce how and where our gazes land upon the body.
